The Razer Phone, developed by gaming hardware maker Razer (1337), will be launched in Hong Kong tomorrow, at a price of HK$5,999, which is more expensive than the cost of the phone in Europe and North America.
Besides its online store and RazerStore, 3 Hong Kong, the mobile division of Hutchison Telecommunications (0215) will also be the phone's distributor.
The phone features the world's first 120 Hz UltraMotion display that has the fastest refresh rates and smoothest graphics as well as a large 4,000mAh battery, which is the largest among today's smartphones. Customers can obtain a free Razer Phone by paying a monthly subscription fee of HK$428 at 3 Hong Kong, which also offers worry-free data use from the super data pack. What is more, customers subscribing to the SIM plan launched on December 11 can get a HK$1,000 discount when purchasing a Razer Phone.
Regarding yesterday's 4 percent drop in its share price, Razer chief executive Tan Min-liang said the slump was a result of the whole market falling and he still felt optimistic about the potential of the gaming business.
