The Li Ka Shing Foundation is promoting the establishment of an "education and scientific research industrial chain" in Jiangxi Province. To this end, a memorandum of cooperation has been signed between the foundation and Nanchang University.

The agreement was signed by the foundation's senior project manager Katherine Lo and Huang Enhua, vice secretary of the party committee at the university.

The foundation said it will work with the university to create an education and scientific research industrial chain, aiming at strengthening young people's awareness of innovation and to encourage them to participate in scientific and technological innovation.

Wu Zhongqiong, vice governor of the Jiangxi Province also attended the meeting.

Four technology companies financed by Li Ka Shing Foundation - fitness drink producer Celsius, oral health care drinks makers DoseBiome, dietary supplement and food ingredient company Chromadex, and artificial intelligence startup Fano Labs - have chosen Jiangxi Province as their main development base.

The foundation also donates to the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University to promote the development of medical technology in the province.

Li Ka-shing said that innovation is the cornerstone of economic growth, and in an era of high-growth competition, creativity is not just a good idea but a way of life. Society has to work, participate and undertake together, to build a new model of public welfare by combining development projects, science, technology and public service, while finding feasible solutions to challenges, he said.
