14/11/2017

MGM China's (2282) delayed launch of its casino resort MGM Cotai, which cost a total of US$3.4 billion (HK$26.5 billion) and took five years to build, is set to open on January 29, 2018.

The latest addition to the casino giant's portfolio, which has 1,390 hotel rooms and 2,870 square meters of meeting venues, was designed to bring a different experience to the firm's MGM Macau, said Grant Bowie, chief executive and executive director. He added that a dynamic theater which can hold as many as 2,000 viewers and a huge LED square have been constructed and the resort will house artworks in its public spaces.

The resort was scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2017 but was delayed by typhoon Hato, the worst storm recorded in Macau for 53 years.
